Aftco Flying Gaff Handle

Aftco offers the best in Flying Gaff Handles & Hooks for big game anglers fishing with IGFA compliant methods. When targeting big game species via IGFA rules, a "Flying Gaff" is essential landing equipment. The gaff handle and gaff hook come apart and the gaff hook is attached to a rope which is cleated off in order to safely secure and land powerful big game.

The Aftco Flying Gaff Handle has a slim tapered tips for best maneuverability. The hook seats in a tough plastic insert fitted into the gaff tip and is held in place by a length of 30-lb. test monofilament line tied to a post affixed to the shaft. When a fish is gaffed, this line snaps, providing a clean and immediate release.

A machined aluminum gimbal at the butt of the shaft secures the attachment rope; and along with the plastic insert in the tip, prevents water from seeping into the shaft. If dropped overboard, the gaff handle (minus hook) will float!

Flying Gaff Hooks are barbed hooks (sold separately) are made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel and will not straighten out when properly used. The triangular points give better penetration and are easy to sharpen. AFTCO Flying Gaff Hooks are available in various sizes from 5-13". All size hooks fit in the same shaft.

The FG6 is a 6'7" long shaft with 1-3/8" butt diameter.
